Martin is a Chartered Accountant ( Deloitte, London), and has had a subsequent business career in hotel , engineering and recruitment industries; current Chairman of Ashton Gate Limited and RSG plc;  set up Bristol Sport ( 2013); established the Bristol Sport Foundation in 2016 where he is Chair of Trustees; pastimes include as many sports as he can still play – these days , mostly golf and fly fishing.
