Anchor Society - Helping and support the elderly, lonely and vulnerable in Bristol and neighbouring areas.

Charitable Housing – good housing is an essential element of wellbeing for the frail elderly.

In recent years Anchor has collaborated with Guinness Trust to develop Anchor House and Southlands Knowle, the first of Bristol's Very Sheltered Housing Projects, and to fund the Day Centre; supported Guinness Trust with their development of Lincoln's Gardens Very Sheltered Housing Project in the heart of Lawrence Hill and Barton Hill; and partnered with Brunelcare to support a Frail Elderly Day Centre for the Fishponds neighbourhood at Collier's Gardens.

Anchor has now embarked on a programme of building charitable specialist housing for the elderly in partnership with Bristol City Council .

Our first scheme, of 8 chalet bungalows, is building now in Kirkby Road, Lawrence Weston.  This development is being delivered in partnership with Bristol City Council and the Hanover Housing Association and is due to be completed in May 2011.  These properties are now available to purchase outright or under a shared ownership scheme with the assistance of the Society.  For more information on this development, click here: http://www.anchorsociety.co.uk/projects/kirkby-road
