In the 200 and more years since 1769 the Society has concerned itself with the care of the elderly in Bristol and neighbouring areas in a number of ways. These include:

  • Grants and Annuities: funding annuities and grants for those in need.
  • Befriending and Visiting: a number of dedicated volunteers visit annuitants in their own homes and fill a vital role of companionship, guidance and support.
  • Projects:
  • Collaborating, as required, with other charities to      develop a scheme of sheltered accommodation.
  • Developing in partnership with Guinness Trust, Anchor House and Southlands Knowle, the first of Bristol's Very Sheltered Housing Projects and funding the Day Centre.
  • Supporting Guinness Trust with their development of Lincoln's Gardens Very Sheltered Housing Project in the heart of Lawrence Hill and Barton Hill.
  • Partnering with Brunelcare to support a Frail Elderly Day Centre for the Fishponds neighbourhood at Collier's Gardens.
  • Partnering with Bristol City Council, Guinness Trust and St. Monica Trust to deliver a new model for Social Care for the elderly called LinkAge
